What is an Official Business Account (OBA)?

An Official Business Account is a special designation granted by WhatsApp to notable, authentic, and highly recognizable brands.

How to Recognize an OBA

  • Blue checkmark appears next to your business name.
  • Business name (not the phone number) is shown in the chat, chat list, and contact view.

Only accounts that successfully pass Meta’s verification process are eligible for the badge. It cannot be purchased.


Eligibility Criteria for OBA Application

To apply for a Blue Tick, your business must meet the following requirements:

  1. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled on your WhatsApp API number.
  2. Verified Meta Business Manager with a valid Business ID.
  3. Compliance with WhatsApp’s Commerce & Messaging Policies.
  4. Reach Messaging Tier 2 (i.e., a minimum messaging limit of 1,000 with a high-quality rating).
  5. Have at least 5 organic online news articles (not sponsored or press releases).
  6. Complete Meta Business Verification prior to application.

How to Apply for a Blue Tick via Mark360.ai

  1. Log in to your Mark360.ai dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the WhatsApp Channel settings.
  3. Click on “Apply for Blue Tick”.
  4. You will be redirected to your Meta Business Manager.

Inside Meta Business Manager:

  • Go to Account Tools > Phone Numbers.
  • Select the Settings of the phone number you want to verify.
  • Fill in the application form:
    • Business Website
    • Reason for Request
    • Up to 5 supporting external media links
    • Business Name (original language)
    • Facebook Page (if applicable)

⏳ What Happens After Submission?

  • Meta typically reviews OBA requests within 1 to 4 weeks.
  • If approved, the account is automatically upgraded to OBA status.
  • If rejected, you can reapply after 30 days.

A rejected request doesn't impact your ability to send messages or use WhatsApp Business API.


Common Reasons for Rejection

  • Insufficient or unverified online presence
  • Incomplete or inconsistent business details
  • Mismatched documents or website info
  • Promotional or paid media used as proof of notability

Sub-Brands & Multiple Numbers

  • OBA approval applies to a specific number and display name.
  • Changing the display name requires re-approval.
  • For multiple brands or numbers, use naming like:
    {{SubBrand}} by {{ParentBrand}}
    Example: MarkChat by Mark360

Important Notes

  • Facebook does not approve OBAs for test accounts, personal accounts, or Business App users.
  • Only businesses using the WhatsApp Business API (like with Mark360.ai) and having completed Meta Business Verification are eligible.
